Learn to dive with Chiltern Divers & BSAC
Come & Try Dives
The best way to see if you like the sensation of being underwater and want to learn to dive is to come along to a try dive session. We hold these every few weeks on Thursdays and the cost is only £15.00. At 7.30pm you will receive an introduction to scuba kit and an informal lecture about diving with Chiltern Divers & BSAC and at 8.30pm you will get in the pool with you instructor for the evening. A great value evening out.

Ocean Diver is BSAC’s entry-level diving qualification. Ocean Divers are qualified to dive to a depth of 20 metres with another similarly qualified dive buddy. This qualification, and all other BSAC qualifications are recognised worldwide. As everyone learns at a different speed the course is designed so that you can progress at your own pace.
Pool and Theory
The theory and pool sessions are run over approximately 6 weeks on Thursday evenings from 7.30 - 9.00pm. Theory lessons are from 7.30 - 8.30pm and pool traing follows from 8.30 - 9.30/10.00pm.
The total cost of 1 years membership plus Ocean Diver Pool & Theory is £?. This breaks down as training materials and qualification book £?? + BSAC membership £?? + 1 years Chiltern Divers membership £?? = £??.
Open water qualifying dives
To qualify as an Ocean Diver, you also need to successfully complete four open water dives. These dives will usually take place at inland diving sites and will be undertaken with our nationally qualified instructors.
The cost of the open water training will vary depending on the location. As your training is undertaken voluntarily by club members it is nice for trainees to contribute towards instructor expenses, ie. paying for entry to a diving centre or buying your instructor lunch or by paying their transport costs.
